COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Lucky's Market in downtown Columbia will stay open for now as dozens of other stores are shuttered, managers in Columbia said Tuesday.

Managers at the store told ABC 17 News that the store is staying open "at this time." When asked whether there were any plans to close the store, the managers said they did not know.

Media in areas where Lucky's stores are located were reporting store closings Tuesday. The website ProgressiveGrocer.com reported the chain was closing up to 32 of its 39 stores in 10 states and laying off staff. Many of the closings are in Florida, the site reported.

The Riverfront Times in St. Louis reported a location in the suburb of Rock Hill will close on Feb. 12. The Riverfront Times reported the Columbia store would stay open but the Springfield, Missouri, store would close.

ProgressiveGrocer.com reported last month that The Kroger Co. had decided to divest its interest in the Boulder, Colorado-based Lucky's, which specializes in natural foods.
