COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Beyond Meat's Chief Operating Officer, Douglas Wayne Ramsey, 53, was arrested Saturday following a fight in Arkansas where he allegedly bit a man's nose.
Ramsey has been charged with battery and making a terroristic threat following the fight.
The fight happened in a parking garage at the Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas, following the Arkansas vs Missouri State football game.
According to court documents, Ramsey was sitting in his Bronco, in the traffic lane of the parking garage. A person driving a Subaru tried to inch his way through the traffic in front of Ramsey when the Subaru hit Ramsey's passenger side tire.
Ramsey allegedly got out of his vehicle and began punching through the back of the Subaru's windshield. The owner then got out of the vehicle and Ramsey grabbed him and began punching him. Ramsey then bit the owner's nose, ripping the flesh from the tip of his nose, according to the police report.
A witness and the driver told police that Ramsey had threatened to kill the driver. Passengers from both vehicles intervened in the fight, separating the two men.
Ramsey was the COO of Beyond Meat's Columbia-based headquarters. Beyond Meat released a statement Tuesday stating that Ramsey has been suspended, and Jonathan Nelson, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing Operations, will oversee operation on an interim basis.
Ramsey was released on Sunday, after posting a $11,085 bond, according to Washington County court records. Ramsey is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on Oct. 19.
