A man was charged earlier this week after allegedly assaulting a woman and two other people Saturday night at the Amerihost Inn in Kingdom City.

Kevin Paul Guard, 31, is charged with second-degree domestic assault, third-degree domestic assault, fourth-degree domestic assault, two counts of fourth-degree assault and resisting arrest. He is being held at the Callaway County Jail without bond.

An initial court appearance is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Callaway County Courthouse.

According to the probable cause statement, Guard was arrested near a Petro Mart while running away from Callaway County Sheriff’s deputies.

A woman at the hotel allegedly told deputies that she and Guard got into an argument and tried to get keys from him so they could separate for the night. She said Guard grabbed her and tried to pry the keys from her fingers and multiple people saw it, according to the probable cause statement. Guard then allegedly punched her in several places on her body, including her head.

The woman stated she recently had surgery on her stomach and Guard knew about it, according to the statement. Guard allegedly then strangled the victim and she thought she was going to die, according to the statement. She evidently had an inch-long cut on the left side of her face, redness on her right cheek, a cut on her lip and left hand extremely swollen, the statement says.

Multiple people staying at the hotel allegedly tried to pull Guard off of her. There were four witnesses listed in the probable cause statement. Two of those witnesses also stated they were assaulted by Guard.
