Jefferson City police say school threat was not local

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Jefferson City police say a reported threat against Thomas Jefferson Middle School reported Wednesday originated elsewhere and targeted a different school district.
Police were "made aware" of the threat Wednesday, according to the Jefferson City Police Department news release. JCPD did not specify how they found out about the threat.
Police worked with the Boone County Cyber Crimes unit and determined the threat targeted another school in another state, the release says. Police say they "cannot discuss the details of the threat."
"We have received notice that a subject has been taken into custody and there was no threat to the Jefferson City Public Schools," police say in the release.
