Early morning home invasion reported in central Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A central Columbia resident reported a home invasion early Tuesday.

The Columbia Police Department said in a news release that officers were called at about 2:45 a.m. to the 1100 block of Madison Street for a reported home invasion. The victim told police he heard a loud bang at the front door and found a person holding a gun outside and another person trying to kick in the door, according to the release.

The victim said the intruders got inside and one beat him with a pistol, according to the release. The intruders demanded cash and left in an unknown direction. All the intruders were wearing face coverings, the victim told police.

Police say the victim described his attackers as three men and a woman.

It wasn't clear how badly the victim was injured. Police released no other details.
