COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia teenager was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of multiple crimes after a police chase ended with a crash.

Bryton Allen, 17, was booked into the Boone County Jail without bond, according to online records.

Columbia Police Department spokesman Jeff Pitts said Allen is suspected of stealing a gun, resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident.

Officers tried to pull Allen over near the intersection of Vandiver Drive and Paris Road for an apparent traffic violation around 12:40 a.m., Pitts said. It was not immediately clear what violation Allen may have committed.

The spokesman said police started chasing Allen when he did not stop his car. The chase ended on Leslie Lane after Allen crashed into parked cars in the area.

Pitts said no people were hurt in the crash and that the incident is under investigation.

Boone County prosecutors charged Allen with a felony count each of stealing and leaving the scene of an accident, according to court records.
