Zach Boetto 512x512 2019

Zach Boetto anchors the weekend morning newscasts for ABC 17 and reports in the field on Mondays and Tuesdays during the 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts.

Zach began working at ABC 17 in June 2019 after graduating from California State University Channel Islands with a bachelor’s degree in communication.

During his time at CSUCI, he launched his broadcast journalism show, the "Island News," which covered news across the greater Los Angeles area including some of the biggest fires in Southern California between 2017 and 2019.

In 2018, Zach landed an internship with KESQ, a news station in Palm Springs, California, where they dubbed him “the best intern ever.”

Before that, he received an associate's degree in journalism from Orange Coast College, where he contributed to the school’s newspaper, the Coast Report, and covered the 2016 presidential election. While at OCC, Zach earned a handful of awards for his journalism coverage from the California Newspaper Publishers Association and the Journalism Association of Community Colleges.

Born in Palm Springs and raised in La Quinta, California, Zach played competitive baseball and soccer throughout high school.

Zach has attended the Coachella Music and Arts Festival eight years in a row and is a huge music, arts and fashion aficionado. He is also a big fan of the Chargers and Lakers but when it comes to baseball, he hovers between three Southern California powerhouses, the Padres, Angels and Dodgers.

Zach credits his start and success in journalism to his mom, Karen Devine, who has worked in the industry for over 30 years and is an honorable member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Silver Circle.
