Pulaski County health officials confirm first case of COVID-19

CROCKER, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Pulaski County Health Department announced Thursday it confirmed the county's first case of COVID-19.

A Facebook post from the health department said the case was not travel-related.

Health officials say they are recommending all schools in the county to close for at least 14 days. The state education department announced Thursday all schools in Missouri have closed amid the spread of novel coronavirus.

Health officials say Boone County recorded the state's first death from COVID-19 Wednesday, March 18.

Gov. Mike Parson said last night there were 24 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state. Today's positive case in Pulaski County brings the total to 25.

The governor is scheduled to hold a news conference at 3 p.m. going over COVID-19. ABC 17 News will livestream the briefing when it starts.
